The TL-SG1008MP is a rack or desktop switch with 8 ports supporting the PoE+ standard. It provides a simple way to extend a wired network by transferring power and data over a single Ethernet cable. With a total power budget of 153W, up to 30W per port, the TL-SG1008MP can further power high-power devices such as WiFi access points (APs), IP cameras or IP phones. What's more, thanks to its innovative energy-efficient technology, the TL-SG1008MP can save up to 75% of energy consumption, making it an environmentally-friendly solution for your corporate network.
How does it work ?
The TL-SG1008MP's 8 ports support the Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) standard, which automatically detects and supplies power to all IEEE 802.3af / at compatible devices. In this situation, the electrical current is transmitted with the data in a single cable, allowing you to extend your network where there are no cables or electrical sockets, and to attach peripherals such as access points, IP cameras or IP telephones.
Overload management :
The TL-SG1008MP has a priority function that helps protect the system if its power supply is overloaded. If the power consumption of all PoE+ devices is greater than or equal to 153W, a priority is defined among the 8 PoE+ ports. The system then cuts power to the port with the lowest priority.
Port Priority function :
Priority (port 1> port 2> port 3> port 4> port 5> port 6> port 7> port 8): this function is used to protect the system in the event of an overload. For example, if ports 1, 2, 4 and 7 use 30W (maximum power per port is 30W, total system power is 153W) and an additional device is inserted into port 3 at 25W, the system is powered down. port 7 power in response to the 153W limit being exceeded. This means that ports 1, 2 and 4 will use 30W, and port 3 will use 25W, no power will be supplied to port 7 as priority among the ports in use.
